What you will do Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individual, corporate, and partnership clients Lead tax research projects to resolve compliance questions and uncover planning opportunities Reduce client tax liability through proactive identification of savings strategies and credits Serve as the day-to-day client contact: gather financials, set timelines, and communicate results clearly Review and coach junior staff work product, providing real-time feedback to build team capacity Ensure all filings meet current federal and state regulatory requirements and internal quality standards Collaborate with partners on complex planning engagements and special projects What you need Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related business field 3+ years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward licensure (e.g., parts passed) Strong technical knowledge of individual (1040), corporate (1120/S), and partnership (1065) taxation Proficiency with professional tax preparation and research software Nice to have Experience with state and local tax (SALT) nexus analysis Exposure to trust and estate returns (1041) Prior experience supervising or mentoring staff associates Pay and benefits Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 per year (based on experience and credential status) Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plan options Retirement plan with company matching contributions Paid time off program plus regular company-recognized holidays Direct mentorship and career development access with firm partners Location and schedule Fairfield, NJ - Hybrid role with a flexible split between in-office and remote work Full-time schedule with core business hours and seasonal flexibility We are a growth-oriented boutique CPA firm in Fairfield, NJ, serving a diverse client base of individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
